In specific, this was the first time Dracula's castle felt like a character of its own. Then once Dracula's castle appears out of nowhere, it's immediately shown that something is not right, and throughout the entire story, we see things gradually falling apart more and more and eventually seeing a different side of the Belmonts and Dracula that we never have before. Juste Belmont inherits the vampire killer whip and is thrust into a situation that involves one of his friends going missing, and another one losing his memory. The story, at its core, is about fate, and legacy. These elements encompass every aspect of this one video game, allow me to explain: As such this game maintains many thematic elements of the original NES trilogy that contributed to their classic gothic horror tone. Harmony is canonically set fifty years after the events of Simon's Quest and serves as a spiritual sequel. I would even argue HoD is one of the best games in the series. I think it's a genuine shame how much criticism is directed towards this game, it's painfully underrated.
